Increasing colleague engagement with a summer festival

The Brief

With a relatively new, young team of 250 within Skipton’s call centre team – Skipton Direct – Skipton Building Society wanted to find a way to motivate and engage them within the role these colleagues perform to make them feel valued and keep them at the top of their game.

As a reward for all their hard work so far, this event needed to show them what their efforts meant to Skipton and encourage them to maintain that level of productivity while building even stronger bonds within the team.

The Solution

We designed and created a mini-festival at Skipton’s head office at the end of the working day, designed to celebrate the hard work of the team and reward their contributions in a way that appealed to the young demographic.

We amped up the atmosphere by creating a micro-festival village within different areas of their office grounds, complete with live music and fabulous food and drink stalls to keep everyone energized.

People could get competitive with mini golf, tuck into a delicious barbeque, get festival-ready with glitter artists or simply unwind with a beverage and a natter – there were things to discover around every corner.

The Results

A resounding success that created a huge buzz throughout the department. Everyone had a fantastic time with lots of Skipton Direct colleagues commenting for weeks afterwards on what a fantastic night they’d had and how the festival feel created the perfect vibe for the occasion.

The event has had a positive impact on staff turnover and an engagement score of 88% in the department, as well as connecting colleagues with each other and the organisation as a whole.
